NEWS: North Carolina Small-Business Owner Named to NSBA Leadership Council

DURHAM, NC – Ms. Bobbi Harris, Founder & CEO of Smart Water Smart City, LLC was recently named to the National Small Business Association (NSBA) Leadership Council. NSBA is the nation’s oldest small- business advocacy organization and operates on a nonpartisan basis. Harris is a globally recognized utility communications and smart city industry expert and a leader in the small-business community. She joins the NSBA Leadership Council alongside other small-business advocates from across the country as they work to promote the interests of small business to policymakers in Washington, D.C.

“As a North Carolina minority small-business owner, I understand the importance of being involved and active when it comes to addressing policy and regulation,” said Harris. “Joining NSBA’s Leadership Council will enable me to take our collective small-business message to the people that need to hear it most: Congress.”

In her years as a global strategic marketing professional, Ms. Harris has focused on key utility industry issues involving the innovative use of smart infrastructure and telecommunications technologies to address water and energy challenges including smart cities, renewable energy, water conservation and green building initiatives. While also aiming to promote diversity and attract more women to the utilities market, she was honored as one of the 2019 Global Smart Energy Elites. Ms. Harris graduated summa cum laude from Campbell University and earned her MBA from the same.

Ms. Harris joined the NSBA Leadership Council as part of her efforts to tackle the many critical issues facing small businesses including tax reform, regulatory restraint, health care costs and the impact of the Affordable Care Act. The NSBA Leadership Council is focused on providing valuable networking between small-business advocates from across the country while ensuring a seat at the table as Congress and regulators take up key small-business proposals.

“I am proud to have Bobbi as part of our Leadership Council,” stated NSBA President and CEO Todd McCracken. “She came to us highly recommended and I look forward to our coordinated efforts for years to come.”
